Test Overview
The Hazard Perception test is the second part of the driving theory test.
Before the test, you will be presented with a video instructing you on how you can complete the test.
During the test, you will be shown 14 video clips. The clips feature everyday road scenes.
Each of these clips will have at least one developing hazard. Some may have more.
You will earn points for spotting the developing hazards immediately once they begin to happen.
Scoring
- Each developing hazard carries up to 5 points.
- For the highest points, click on the video as soon as you start to see the hazard arise.
- Clicking at the wrong time will not result in lost points. However, you may not continuously keep clicking.
- One attempt is allowed for each clip. Changing your answer is not permitted.
Hazards
- Vehicles entering your road.
- Vehicles un-parking or exiting their home.
- Parked vehicles.
- Large vehicles beginning to enter your side of the road.
- Facing an oncoming vehicle when the road is narrow.
- Pedestrians crossing the road.
- Children playing near the road.
- Cyclists entering your road.
- Cyclists entering your path to avoid hazards.
- Animals entering the road.
- Hidden and difficult-to-see junctions.
